Small Groups

Caregivers Support Group
Sometimes the privilege and the responsibility of caring for a loved one who is going through a particularly difficult period can be overwhelming. Sometimes we're torn between caring for a parent, spouse, other relative or friend and the needs of the rest of our family. Sometimes we feel pulled in too many directions, and we wonder where we can gain strength. Covenant's Caregivers Support Group can help! This caring, supportive, and confidential group will meet again on Sunday, November 5th, from 12:15-1:45pm. Lunch will be served, no reservations are necessary and newcomers are always welcome! Feel free to bring a neighbor or friend. Contact Pastor Clara Thompson for more information.

GOOD GRIEF?!
If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, either recently or some time ago, please join us as we journey together, reminding ourselves that we are not alone in our grief. No reservations are necessary, and feel free to bring a friend or relative. Covenant offers a daytime group and an evening group. The evening group meets Wednesday, November 8th, from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Dinner is provided. Contact Pastor Clara Thompson for more information.

"2:42" Small Group
Meets 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 4:00pm (Nov. 12 & 26)
2:42 is a group that looks to reflect the early Christian community as seen in Acts 2:42. 2:42 meets on the second and fourth Sunday of the month from 4:00-6:00pm, with childcare provided from 4:00-5:00pm. Each week, we meet at 4:00pm for a time of small group Bible study using the Wired Word curriculum, which takes a look at current events through a Christian lens. After Bible study, we gather to break bread together at dinner. This group is a great chance to meet other members and friends of Covenant, and a good chance to grow together in our faith. Everyone is welcome to join. No need to RSVP, but it helps to know how much food we need. If you and/or your family is interested in becoming joining this group please let us know by contacting Jenny Von Bergen or Pastor Jeff Fox-Kline and we'll see you there! "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." Acts 2:42

Mindfulness Meditation Practice
Sunday mornings, 10:00-10:50am in Room A107
Members and friends interested in practicing mindfulness meditation in a small group setting are invited to participate Sunday mornings at 10:00am in Room A107, located on the lower level of the adult education wing. If you have questions, please contact Cindy Schally.

Knitting & Crochet Group
Meets 1st Wednesdays of the month at 10:00am in the Lounge

In past years women in this group, along with several other women in the congregation, made many pairs of mittens, hats, scarves, baby sweaters and prayer shawls. The donation of time, talent and yarn will touch the lives and warm the hands and heads of many children and young adults in Madison and hearts of Covenant members. The group is always open to anyone who might like to stop by and work on a personal project or learn a new one. This is a great place to learn how to knit or crochet. We have extra yarn and needles to start you in a new hobby. Contact Alicia Mundy if you have any questions.

Soul Sisters Meets November 12
Soul Sisters will meet on Sunday, November 12th at the home of Judy Stevenson, at 7:00pm. Our discussion theme this month is "On life's journey, I've learned..." Linda McNeel will lead the discussion. Please RSVP to Judy or 231-3163 if you can attend, so that she knows how many people to expect.

Soul Sisters is open to all Covenant women. The purpose in gathering together is in three parts, woven together:

If you would like to be included in future e-mails about meetings, please contact Sally Lorenz.

Women's Friday Book Club
The women's book group has decided to meet at 1:00pm (new time) on the first and third Fridays of each month. We are reading, Hallelujah Anyway by Anne Lamott. We are moving slowly through the book, reading it chapter by chapter. We hope the time change will work for everyone. See you there!

Eat, Pray, Laugh!
All Covenant women and their friends are invited to this quarterly gathering to deepen friendships with one another and enjoy a potluck supper with (mostly) healthy recipes. The next gathering is Sunday, November 5th, 4:00 to 6:30pm at the home of Tracey Hokanson or 608-467-2993. Please RSVP to Tracey by Wednesday, November 1st. For more information about Eat, Pray, Laugh contact coordinator Tracey Hokanson

Young Adults at Covenant
Covenant now has a group for young adults looking to grow in service and in fellowship. The group meets the first Tuesday of the month. One month we go out for a meal together and the next month we engage in local mission. It's a great opportunity to get to know other young adults at Covenant, and a great opportunity to engage with the wider community. The next gathering is on November 6th at the Lussier Center on Gammon Road from 6:30-8:00pm. If you or someone you know may be interested please contact Pastor Jeff Fox-Kline.

Dinners For Eight Program

Fellowship Fun!
It's time to change our thinking and play outside the box in order to expand our repertoire! So out with the old "Dinners For Eight" and welcome in the new "More Than Just Dinner!" The concept is still the same-gather with Covenant family to share some fellowship and a meal. But, you might want to kick it up a notch and exercise your body with a SPLASH in a local pool; or cheer on the Brewers/Mallards; or check out the diverse cultural offerings at the Chazen or Overture Center.

The point is, the possibilities are only limited by your creativity! The bottom line is everything goes well with food-eat and hike; eat and sled; eat and go to Sundance; eat and go to the Comedy Club; eat and bowl; eat and bike; eat and play games; and so on!

Sign-up forms are available at the Welcome Center or on the Coming Events bulletin board. All are welcome - families, individuals, couples; come join the fun! Please return completed forms to the office or Welcome Center by Sunday, October 8th. If you should have further questions or concerns, please contact Gina Fritz at 608-697-6749.
